Installation at The Chinati Foundation, Texas, USA, 1999
Exhibition, The Chinati Foundation, USA  1999

This exhibition at the Chinati foundation comprises three 24-hour rawins. Two are on rectangular sheets measuring 223 x100cm each, mounted flat against one wall. The third drawing is mounted on the interior surface of a circle hung from the gallery's ceiling. Visitors must step inside the circle to see the work, which then surrounds them. The drawing consists of 24 stacked lines of Heatbeat Drawing, each of which represents a 1 hour period extending over the circle's circumference of 1040cm. This installation was inspired by the West Texas landscape, with its frequent 360 degrees views of the horizon. The circular shape gives a continuity to the movement of the line and, in turn, suggests an endlessness to the heartbeat itself.
